AmasisLate Period (702-332 b.c.) Dynasty XXVI (570526 b.c.) Amasis has traditionally been remembered as a good-natured and exuberant ruler as well as a wise legislator, but unfortunately the Persian conquerors removed the records of his achievements from nearly all his monuments. He was a successful general who during a time of civil war was swept to the throne on a wave of nationalism. His most notable accomplishments have to do with skillful relations with the Greeks, both within Egypt and elsewhere. Within two hundred years the Greeks would be the masters of Egypt.
