Koptos

Koptos is located on the east bank of the Nile in southern Egypt, a site currently occupied by the town of Quft. It was important as part of a great trade route running between the Red Sea to Koptos. It was also a center for the worship of Min, the god of travelers and fertility. On exhibit from Koptos is a shabti (see cat. no. 82d).
