Inspiring Impressionism
Guided Tours and Art Studio WorkshopsJune 25–August 29, 2008 Grades 2–12: 2-hour program (60-min. tour + 60-min. art studio workshop) Even the most innovative and revolutionary artists are influenced by the art of the past. Inspiring Impressionism explores the relationships between the Impressionists and the artists that came before them. Guided tours focus on visual analysis and facilitate discussion on the art elements of line, shape, form, space, texture, light and color. Art studio workshops focus on sketching and copying from works in the exhibition. Request a guided tour. Visit on Your OwnJune 25–September 19, 2008 Teachers are encouraged to lead their own groups through Inspiring Impressionism. We recommend sketching in the galleries as a tool for engaging students. Self-guided groups can borrow sketch books and pencils from the museum if they are requested in advance. Use this list of online resources and our Impressionism Bibliography as a resource.
