This month many of the park precincts will achieve their final grades, as the topsoil and irrigation is placed in preparation for planting in the final months.

The steel for the Burlington Northern Pedestrian Bridge was placed by the end of the month, connecting all three parcels of the park.

Construction was active in all parcels of the park, with the framing and siding of the PACCAR Pavilion, plantings in the grove, and beginning preparations for art installation.

Weather permitting, the park will start to take on a whole new "green" look this month!

The placement of the PACCAR Pavilion’s structural steel was completed in the month of March, as were the forming and pouring of the structural concrete walls.

The construction team completed the seawall stabilization and beach excavation within the “fish window” (the winter period that is least disruptive for sensitive salmon habitat and migration).

January saw a blur of construction activity on all three parcels—from Western Avenue to the water’s edge.

Earthwork is a major component of the construction activity. By the end of the park’s construction, over 200,000 cubic yards of fill will have been brought to the site.

Construction activity commenced in early August with the demolition of the remaining foundations of the former UNOCAL building on the corner of Broad Street and Western Avenue.

When the new Olympic Sculpture Park opens in the winter of 2006, it will transform a major industrial site into an 9-acre park that will be free and accessible to the public.
