What are the hours of the Olympic Sculpture Park?

The park opens 30 minutes prior to sunrise and closes 30 minutes after sunset.

The park is open 365 days a year and does not close for holidays. The waterfront parcel is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, like Myrtle Edwards Park. More Information...

What are the hours of the PACCAR Pavilion?

Located on the southeast corner of the park, the PACCAR Pavilion provides space for art, performances, educational programming, a café and a shop.

Why can't we touch or climb on all of the art in the park?

• SAM's goal is to keep the art in the best condition possible for our visitors and future generations.
• Some artworks can be damaged by the slightest touch; other works are able to withstand reasonable touching. Approximately 25% of the sculptures in the park can be touched, including Roy McMakin's Love & Loss and Bench, Louis Bourgeois's Eye Benches and Teresita Fernández's Seattle Cloud Cover. Mark Dion's Neukom Vivarium also has interactive elements.
• The majority of sculpture parks around the country have the same no-touch policy. SAM spent years researching other parks and talking with artists and other conservators before forming the policy. For example, the Nasher Sculpture Center, the Museum of Modern Art, the Walker Art Center and the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden all have similar policies.
  
  

Are public bathrooms available when the PACCAR Pavilion is closed?

There are public restrooms in the parking garage located on the corner of Western Avenue and Broad Street.

Are dogs allowed in the park?

Dogs are allowed but they must be kept on a 6-foot leash. Please clean up after your dog. Other pets are prohibited.

Can I bicycle/rollerblade/skateboard through the park?

Can I bring a frisbee or football and toss it around with my friends?

Active sports are not allowed because of the possibility of damage to the artwork.

Is it all right to picnic in the Olympic Sculpture Park?

Small picnics of 10 or fewer people are allowed. However, alcohol consumption, any kind of fire (e.g. in barbeques, Hibachis, etc.) and the setting up of tables or tents are not permitted. Private gatherings and picnics with more than 10 people or special requirements must be arranged and approved by SAM in advance. Please contact us at 206.332.1377.
