How do I schedule a school tour?

All tours must be requested at least four weeks in advance. Once your form is submitted, you will receive an email confirming receipt of your request. This is not a confirmation of your date or time; you will receive confirmation via email within two weeks of the date your request was made. Questions? Email: schooltours@seattleartmuseum.org.

Are there additional admission fees on top of the school tour fee?

The school tour fee includes admission for all students, teachers and chaperones. There are no additional fees.

Can we bring more than the suggested number of chaperones?

Yes, as long as they maintain the role of chaperone and help manage the students.

How can I best plan for my visit to one of SAM’s sites?

If you are preparing for a school field trip to one of SAM’s three locations, make sure to first read through the “How to Schedule a Tour and Prepare for Your Visit” section of our website. Where do buses park after they drop off students?

There are no parking facilities for buses at SAM Downtown or at the Olympic Sculpture Park. There is bus parking at the Seattle Asian Art Museum. For suggestions on where buses can park, please read the tips for planning your visit to SAM.

Can we eat lunch in the museum?

Students are encouraged to eat lunch outdoors at each of the three locations. There is limited space indoors at each site in case of inclement weather, but space is not guaranteed. For suggestions about lunch sites, please read the tips for planning your visit to SAM.

How do I schedule a tour for my group? Is there a fee?

SAM offers docent-led tours for private groups over 10 people upon request. Private tour groups pay a flat-rate tour fee in addition to discounted admission. Tours are 60–minutes in length and must be scheduled three weeks in advance. To schedule a private tour for your group, please fill out our private tour request form. Questions?
