Creatively Speaking: The Artist's POV
Hip Hop Masquerades: The Art of Iona Rozeal Brown
December 7, 2007
7–8 pm
Nordstrom Lecture Hall

Iona Rozeal Brown’s images of “blinged-out” geishas and gangsters are a decidedly contemporary take on 19th century ukiyo-e prints from Japan such as those on view in the current SAM exhibition Japan Envisions the West. Discover Brown’s own artistic interaction between the East and West.

Finally, an opportunity to be a part of the conversation! The Creatively Speaking series provides a forum for artists to explain the philosophies underlying their work and for audiences to ask the questions they rarely have a chance to ask. The Seattle Art Museum aims to be unique among cultural institutions by integrating artists in the fabric of the museum.
