School and Teacher Programs
Presented by the Seattle Art Museum and the Frye Art Museum, this one-day workshop provides an introduction to VTS (Visual Thinking Strategies) with hands-on practice in SAM's downtown galleries. VTS is a student-centered, research-based education method that uses art to build students' capacities to observe, think, listen and communicate. VTS teaches how to value one’s own ideas, and how to listen to and build on the ideas of others. This method is based on 30 years of empirical research that has been field-tested with a wide range of students and audiences across languages and cultures. VTS is used in schools and museums across the United States and abroad. Visit visualthinkingstrategies.org to learn more about VTS. This workshop is open to all educators. It will be led by Heidi Arbogast (Art Educator, Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture), Deborah Sepulveda (Frye Art Museum Manager of School and Teacher Programs) and Yoon Kang-O'Higgins (VTS Northwest Regional Director). Clock hours are offered through Seattle Pacific University (SPU). The workshop fee below does not include the fee for SPU clock hours.
Adults: $40.00 Registration required for this event closed on February 1, 2009 Check out SAM on Twitter, Facebook and MySpace
