SAM Films
Offered in conjunction with S’abadeb—The Gifts: Pacific Coast Salish Art and Artists, this two-day Native film showcase explores the cross-pollination between Native peoples and traditions and contemporary cultures. This screening includes the short film Nikamowin and feature-length 5th World. Deconstructing and reconstructing Cree narrative, Nikamowin (2007) experiments with language to create a linguistic soundscape. Directed by Kevin Burton. Color, 11 min. In 5th World (2005), the edgy first feature directed by Blackhorse Lowe, a romance takes flight as Andrei and Aria hitchhike together across the rez, but they find that their tribal culture affects their bond in powerful and unexpected ways. Color, 75 min.
Members: $20.00 Prices above are for entire film festival (five screenings). Tickets for individual screenings: nonmembers $7, students and seniors $6, SAM members $5. Check out SAM on Twitter and
