SAM Talks
Michael Darling, SAM's Jon & Mary Shirley Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art, presents this historical survey of post–World War II artworks that question the conventions of painting. The special exhibition Target Practice: Painting Under Attack 1949–78 explores physical violations, pictorial iconoclasm, and the use of mythology and composition by a series of modern painters. Learn more about SAM’s collections and exhibitions from curators and local experts. These morning lectures are scheduled on the first Friday of every month, when seniors age 62 and over are admitted to SAM installations for free and to special exhibitions at a reduced price.
