First Friday Lecture: Kenneth Allan
Warhol in Los Angeles: Art and Celebrity Circa 1963
June 4, 2010
11 am–noon
Plestcheeff Auditorium

Join Ken Allan, an assistant professor of art history at Seattle University, to explore the meaning of Pop Art in the year when Andy Warhol brought his movie camera and a few New York friends to his exhibition at the legendary Ferus Gallery. Stars of all kinds crossed paths in 1963 Los Angeles, from old Dadaist Marcel Duchamp and underground artist Wallace Berman to "hip to the art scene" actor Dennis Hopper.

Admission is free to members and adults over the age of 62 on the first Friday of every month. For other visitors, this lecture is included with museum admission.
