My Favorite Things tours bring some of the most opinionated and fascinating artists, cultural producers and community figures into the galleries to discuss their favorite works of art.

This week SAM offers a tour of Andrew Wyeth: Remembrance with Shayla Alarie, a graduate student in art history at the University of Washington, where she works with Dr. Susan Casteras. Alarie’s scholarship focuses on late 19th- through early 20th-century British and American painting. She studies the relationship between image and text in manifestations ranging from Phiz's illustrations for Charles Dickens's Bleak House to the literary paintings of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. She is currently researching the narrative and allegorical works of the American artist Anna Lea Merritt.

Free with museum admission. Tours meet at the entrance to Andrew Wyeth: Remembrance.
