SAM Talks
"Between Art & Architecture: Geometry in Michelangelo's Laurentian Library" with Ben Nicholson
January 29, 2010
7–8 pm
Plestcheeff Auditorium

SOLD OUT

Beneath the floorboards of Michelangelo's Laurentian Library lies a geometric pavement that the public has not seen since the library opened in 1589. Ben Nicholson, an associate professor of architecture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, proposes that the 15 pairs of intricate designs constitute a lost treatise on Mannerist number theory that may have served Michelangelo's art and architecture projects.

Presented in conjunction with Michelangelo Public and Private.

This event is sold out. There will be a free simulcast available in the Nordstrom Lecture Hall.

Cosponsored by the College of Built Environments, University of Washington.
