SAM Performs
Jack Straw Productions curates an evening of readings in response to SAM's exhibition Freeing the Figure. Tonight's reading features poets Jared Leising, Donna Miscolta and Belle Randall. Jared Leising, the 2010 Jack Straw Writers Program Curator, is the author of chapbook The Widows and Orphans of Winesburg, Ohio. He also teaches English at Cascadia Community College and serves on the Board of Directors for 826 Seattle. Donna Miscolta, the 2009 Jack Straw Writers Program Curator, has received awards from Artist Trust, 4 Culture and Seattle City Artists, and she won the 2008 Bread Loaf Writers' Conference/Rona Jaffe Foundation Scholarship in Fiction. Her fiction has appeared in Raven Chronicles, The Americas Review, Seattle magazine, New Millennium Writings and Calyx, and is forthcoming in Connecticut Review. She has been awarded residencies at Hedgebrook, Anderson Center for Interdisciplinary Studies, and the Atlantic Center for the Arts. Belle Randall, Curator of the 2004 Jack Straw Writers Program, is a National Endowment of the Arts grant recipient (2005). Her books of poetry include True Love, Drop Dead Beautiful, The Orpheus Sedan and 101 Different Ways of Playing Solitaire. She has taught at Stanford University, in addition to other creative writing programs.
