I Know Where I’m Going! (1945). Wendy Hiller, Roger Livesey. 35 mm, 91 min.

Martin Scorsese’s triple-Oscar-winning editor Thelma Schoonmaker, wife of legendary British director Michael Powell (1905–90), shows the beguiling I Know Where I’m Going!, in which a hyper-ambitious London woman is enchanted by a remote Scottish village.

The following evening, Schoonmaker presents the Seattle premiere of the UCLA restoration of The Red Shoes, the masterpiece of dance, romance and a ballerina’s bewitched shoes. Schoonmaker will discuss Powell’s artistry at both screenings.
