SAM Creates Beauty and African Bling March 27, 2010 2–4 pm Chase Open Studio

Join President of the African Art Council Evelyn Reingold for an afternoon of crafting with cloth and beads. Create a personal statement of self-adornment using recycled materials from local and African sources, which will be provided at no extra cost.

African fabrics and beads from Ghana, Nigeria and Mali will be on hand to inspire you. Pam McClusky, Curator of African and Oceanic Art, will host a special film screening of Living Memory: Six Sketches of Mali Today by Susan Vogel and the Musée National du Mali. As you create, you can listen to Malians talk about their idea of style, music, architecture, weddings, rituals and new art forms.
