In conjunction with love fear pleasure lust pain glamour death—Andy Warhol Media Works and in honor of Gay Pride Month, SAM Films highlights a selection of early films made by Warhol.

Paul America stars as a handsome blond street hustler who’s brought to Fire Island by an aging gay man (Ed Hood) whose neighbors—male and female—take turns trying to seduce Paul away from his "rightful owner." The film bristles with catty dialogue and features something rare for a Warhol film: an editing cut. Director John Schlesinger, who portrayed the theme of love as commodity in Midnight Cowboy (1969), openly acknowledged his debt to My Hustler.
