Luminous: The Art of Asia
November 26, 2011
1–2 pm
Simonyi Special Exhibition Galleries

This 60-minute tour introduces visitors to the special exhibition Luminous: The Arts of Asia. Luminous presents over 170 masterpieces from the Seattle Art Museum's collection of Asian Art in new and dynamic ways. Featuring works of art from 12 different countries and spanning thousands of years, this engaging exhibition will challenge conventional assumptions about artistic practice in Asian cultures. Each gallery will relate stories of these objects' journeys through time and space and across borders of religion, class and nation. The current-day relevance of these exquisite objects is further illuminated by an installation by contemporary artist Do Ho Suh, creator of SAM's famed "dog-tag suit" titled Some/One, 2001.

Tours are Wednesday–Friday at 1 & 2 pm; Saturday–Sunday at 11 am, 1 & 2 pm
