SAM Tours
CANCELLED This tour has been rescheduled for Friday, November 18. My Favorite Things tours bring some of the most opinionated and fascinating artists, cultural producers and community figures into the galleries to discuss their favorite works of art in the museum's collections and special exhibitions. This week's tour features Robert Roth, a national and international presenter on symbolism in Deaf art and a passionate advocate of Deaf culture. Currently, Roth serves as the chair for Deaf Spotlight, a new group focusing on Deaf arts and culture in Seattle; their first major event will be the Seattle Deaf Film Festival in March 2012. Roth also worked as the Community Arts Program Manager for the King County Arts Commission (now 4Culture) for over three years. This public tour will be presented in American Sign Language with voice interpretation.
Free with museum admission. Tour meets at top of the escalator in the Third Floor Galleries. SAM is a recipient of The Wallace Foundation Excellence Award, created to support exemplary arts organizations to pioneer effective practices to engage more people in high-value arts activities.
