5:30–6:30 pm
Plestcheeff Auditorium

SOLD OUT

Join us for an evening presentation with contemporary artist Do Ho Suh and Catherine Roche, Interim Assistant Curator of Asian Art, as they discuss their unique collaboration in creating SAM’s current special exhibition Luminous: The Art of Asia.

In a series of lively, far-ranging conversations over the phone and on Skype, the artist and curator exchanged opinions, ideas and stories as they sought to develop a better model to display historical Asian materials in a contemporary museum setting. Come listen in and learn how Suh conceived of his site-specific, multimedia installation, Gate, now on view at SAM Downtown, and discover how this new work relates to the artist’s past and future work, including SAM’s famed dog-tag sculpture Some/One.

Join us for this exclusive and special member-only event. Tickets are free but please reserve yours in advance.

SAM will release any unclaimed seats for ‘A Conversation with Do Ho Suh’ five minutes before the start of the program. Unclaimed seats for the live program will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

SAM is also offering a live simulcast of ‘A Conversation with Do Ho Suh’ in the Nordstrom Lecture Hall. The simulcast is free and open to members only. Seating in the simulcast is also on a first-come, first-served basis.
