In conjunction with the opening of Gauguin and Polynesia: An Elusive Paradise, Gauguin scholar Richard Brettell, the Margaret McDermott Distinguished Chair, Art and Aesthetics at the University of Texas, Dallas joins Chiyo Ishikawa, Susan Brotman Deputy Director for Art and Curator of European Painting and Sculpture, in a conversation about Paul Gauguin's placement in the pantheon of his peers.
