The February 24 Remix is now sold out for tickets that include entry to Gauguin & Polynesia. A limited number of additional tickets will go on sale at the 1st Avenue and University Street entrance at 7:30 pm when doors open. These tickets include SAM Collection gallery access, along with the rest of the event, but do not include entry to the Gauguin and Polynesia exhibition. Tickets: $25 general, $20 students and $12 SAM members (day-of, cash only). No more advance tickets are available.

The first 50 dressed in sunshine yellow get in free. The first 50 line begins at the outside the museum entrance at the 1st Avenue and Union Street entrance.

Experience Gauguin & Polynesia: An Elusive Paradise and Theaster Gates: The Listening Room during a special evening of performances, talks, dancing and more at this late-night creative explosion. Event ticket includes time ticketed entry to Gauguin & Polynesia: An Elusive Paradise.

Event Details

• DJ Supreme La Rock spins global beats, hip hop, soul and more to keep you movin’ all night long.
• Te Fare O Tamatoa presents Tahitian dancing and drumming performances by Te'a rama: a Marquesan haka (a Polynesian traditional welcome) at 8 pm in Brotman Forum and at 10:15 pm in the South Hall. Additional performances will be held in the Plestcheeff Auditorium at 8:30 and 10:30 pm.
• Swing by the Record Store in Arnold Board Room for a Listening Party with Maikoiyo Alley-Barnes, Hanna Benn, OC Notes, Christian Science and Mike Wagner.
• Contribute to an elaborate, cut paper paradise by artist Celeste Cooning.
• Live performance by the eight-piece Big World Breaks ensemble featuring original material and remixed classics; celebrating elements of Soul, Funk, Jazz and Afro-Caribbean music (9 and 11 pm)
• Create a self-portrait or an imagined landscape postcard inspired by Gauguin’s paintings with artists Jeanne Dodds and Elizabeth Humphrey.
• Get down in The Listening Room, where DJ Riz spins music from the Dr. Wax record collection and a volunteer archivist records and catalogs the mixes.
• Harpist and poet Monica Schley improvises spoken word, music and vocals in the 4th floor Baroque galleries. 8:45 pm, 9:45 pm, 10:45 pm.
• My Favorite Things: Highly Opinionated Tours by exhibition curators Pam McClusky (8 pm) and Chiyo Ishikawa (9 pm), emerging museum professional Mark Rosen (8:30), artist Allyce Wood (9:30), the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence (10 pm), the Rat City Rollergirls (10:30) and more!
