In Oviri (The Wolf at the Door), Donald Sutherland gives a passionate portrayal of Gaugin as the artist returns to Paris from his island sojourn. He confronts the Parisian family he left behind, argues with playwright August Strindberg about the value of “the primitive” and dreams of returning to Tahiti.
