School and Teacher Programs
Inspired by the exhibition Gauguin & Polynesia: An Elusive Paradise, participants in this course will develop curriculum for their own classroom based on the work and life of French artist Paul Gauguin and the peoples of Polynesia. This course focuses on instructional practice for pre-service or practicing teachers and is an intensive introduction to this special exhibition as well as an opportunity to learn about the Seattle Art Museum School + Educator Program’s pedagogy and resources. Participants will learn directly from curators, SAM staff and other experts as well as their fellow educators and colleagues. This course is divided into six sessions, all held at either SAM Downtown or the Seattle Asian Art Museum. Session Six Saturday, March 10, 10 am–3 pm. Seattle Art Museum Attend SAM’s Community Day celebration to observe and participate in a free all-ages cross-cultural program.
