To supplement the exhibit Ancestral Modern: Australian Aboriginal Art, we present three films that explore the mystical connection between Aboriginal peoples and the land that is the sacred matrix of their past, present and future dreams. Western civilizations own real estate, whereas the Aboriginals are “owned” by the land, and express its primal forces in their temporal and spiritual lives.

In Where the Green Ants Dream, an Aboriginal group stands up to intrusive oil developers who see the land as an exploitable commodity, rather than as the cosmic ground of being.
