Music of Remembrance "Sparks of Glory" Concert Letter to Warsaw October 20, 2012 2–3:30 pm Plestcheeff Auditorium

This engaging concert-with commentary, introduced by Music of Remembrance's Mina Miller and inspired by SAM exhibition Elles: Women Artists from the Centre Pompidou, Paris, presents Letter to Warsaw, a musical portrait of one woman’s intimate, firsthand account of life in the grip of the Holocaust. American composer Thomas Pasatieri—whose film scores range from American Beauty to The Shawshank Redemption—put music to poetry and lyrics by poet/cabaret artist Pola Braun, written while she was in the Warsaw ghetto and in the Majdanek concentration camp.
