This year's Members Art History Lecture series covers a rich spectrum of engaging topics. Join us as SAM’s outstanding curators explore thought-provoking topics within their areas of SAM’s permanent collection. The elusive Georgia O’Keeffe let few people into her life, but SAM trustee Barney Ebsworth was one of her dear friends. Mr. Ebsworth shares memories of his times with her at her home in Abiquiú, New Mexico, that offer a rare personal perspective on the woman and her art. In conjunction with the exhibition Elles: SAM—Singular Works from Seminal Women Artists, Patricia Junker, the Ann M. Barwick Curator of American Art, relates the stories of Mr. Ebsworth, in this, the first of the lectures. Other lectures in this series include:November 14, 2012: My Friend, Georgia O’Keeffe: Barney Ebsworth Reminisces December 12: Victoria Haven: Portable Monuments January 16, 2013: Together Again: Nuxalk Faces of the Sky February 20: New Visions, Old Stories: Reinstalling the Japanese Art Galleries March 20: Venus and Adonis by Paolo Veronese and Worksho April 17: What, Exactly, are the Decorative Arts?
