Shahrnush Parsipur Reading
October 7, 2006
3:30–4:30 pm
Stimson Auditorium

As part of the Free First Saturday program at the Seattle Asian Art Museum, revered and exiled Iranian writer Shahrnush Parsipur will read from and discuss her work. Two of her fictional works have been published in the U.S., Women without Men, a book of linked stories, and the acclaimed novel Touba and the Meaning of Night, released this past summer. Her work has been inspirational to many, including artist Shirin Neshat, whose installation Tooba is currently on view at the Seattle Asian Art Museum in the Gould Gallery. Ms. Parsipur will present in Farsi with translation provided by University of Washington professor Firoozeh Papan-Matin. This should be a unique and memorable occasion.

Co-sponsored by SAM's Asian Art Council and the Elliott Bay Book Company.
