The Seattle Art Museum is proud to be a member institution of the Washington Art Consortium. Combined, the collections of the Washington Art Consortium hold over ten thousand works of art by distinguished Northwest artists, covering a period of time from the nineteenth century to the present day.

The Washington Art Consortium and its members define Northwest Art as follows:

"Northwest Art" is defined as works of art produced by artists who have primarily lived or worked in the Pacific Northwest, from 19th century forward. The Pacific Northwest is further defined as the region encompassing Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Idaho, Montana and the Province of British Columbia.
