Djoser

Old Kingdom (2700–2190 b.c.)

Dynasty III (2630–2611 b.c.)

This pharaoh’s name dominates the Third Dynasty. His tomb, the famous Step Pyramid, was the first large-scale stone structure in the world. It may still be seen at modern day Saqqara near Cairo. Djoser’s architect, Imhotep, was deified in later periods.
