Reclaimed: Nature and Place Through Contemporary Eyes June 30–September 11, 2011 SAM Simonyi Special Exhibition Galleries

Reclaimed brings together a selection of post-1970s work within SAM’s permanent collection that probes how contemporary American artists find inspiration in, as well as question our relationship to, the natural world. Paintings, sculptures, ceramics, drawings and photographs offer a conceptual response to Beauty and Bounty, and reveal artists—many working in the Northwest—looking to the landscape for both image and material. These eloquent expressions of their insights lead us to further consider what we seek, and what we take, from our experiences in nature.
