Beneath the majestic peaks of the Fairweather mountain range in Alaska, 21 men were lost in 10 minutes when their boats were swallowed by the sea in 1786. Twenty years later, marine specialist Louis-Philippe Crépin (1772–1851) depicts this tragic episode of the La Pérouse expedition with drama and pathos. Lectures are held the third Wednesday of the month at the Seattle Art Museum. Doors open at 6:30 pm for Happy Hour in the South Hall where you can enjoy complimentary wine. Curator talks begin at 7 pm in Plestcheeff Auditorium.
