Premier Member Reception: Akomfrah/O'Keeffe

Mar 6 2020

Seattle Art Museum

Entire Building

6:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Premier members are invited to enjoy an evening reception for both John Akomfrah: Future History and Georgia O’Keeffe: Abstract Variations.

Weaving a tapestry of empathy through the moving image, John Akomfrah’s films create an exhibition unlike any before at SAM. Future History puts three examples of his video art in conversation to present a provocative vision of the past, present, and future.

Georgia O’Keeffe’s early abstract works reveal her beginnings as a major force in American Art. Abstract Variations brings Music, Pink and Blue, No. 1—a masterpiece in SAM’s collection—and Music, Pink and Blue, No. 2 together in Seattle for the first time, alongside loans from across the country.
