SAM teams with the Nordic Heritage Museum to celebrate the centennial of master Swedish writer-director Ingmar Bergman (1918-2007). Beginning in the mid-twentieth century, Bergman expanded the consciousness of the world’s film-goers with his visually stunning, literate, deep-delving explorations of our eternal inner questions.
How can loneliness and despair become joy? How can we nurture intimacy and love? Are we sustained beyond death? Passionately expressive, Bergman and superb actors like Max von Sydow and Liv Ullmann answer with the eloquence of the human face.
In Swedish with English subtitles.
