Somewhere within the Seattle city limits, a unique medallion will be hidden in plain sight on October 17—and it's up to the greater Seattle community to find it! In celebration of the Seattle Art Museum's exhibit, Japan Envisions the West: 16th–19th Century Japanese Art from Kobe City Museum, the University of Washington presents the second annual Emerald City Search.
Beginning on October 17, 2007, one clue to the medallion’s location will be revealed each day for ten consecutive days at www.seattletimes.com and on the front page of the Northwest Life section of the Seattle Times. The medallion is NOT located on Seattle Art Museum premises.
Scholars from the University of Washington, including some of the world's foremost experts in ancient Japanese art and civilization, have developed this series of challenging clues, designed to lead only the cleverest seeker to the medallion's secret location. This is truly a community quest—only by solving the clues is it possible to locate the medallion.
The first qualified person(s) to correctly solve the clues and follow the directions on the back of the medallion will receive $2500 in cash and prizes. Complete contest rules are available on the University of Washington Alumni Association website.
