First Friday Focus: Catharina Manchanda

Jan 3 2020

Seattle Art Museum

Plestcheeff Auditorium

11 AM – NOON

First Friday Focus is a free midday program featuring curators, artists, scholars, and creative minds behind SAM’s exhibitions. On the first Friday of every month (November-May), hear from a SAM curator or special guest and get an in-depth look at art and ideas related to SAM’s exhibitions and collection. After the program, visit the galleries with a fresh perspective and deeper understanding of the art and artists on view.

This month's First Friday Focus features Catharina Manchanda, SAM'S Jon & Mary Shirley Curator of Modern & Contemporary Art, as she discusses our current exhibition Sound Affect.

Music and sound offer a path for artists exploring personal and cultural histories and real and imagined spaces. The objects featured in Sound Affect range from the documentary and deadpan to the lyrical, contrasting and harmonizing in unexpected ways.

Free; RSVP requested.
