Visual Storytelling

Introduce your family to a variety of cultures and artistic traditions during a Virtual Family Fun Workshop. This art experience is designed to engage you and your child in an hour of learning and creating together.

The June series features three workshops. In each session we will look closely at an artwork, do some interactive activities and make some art!

All the supplies you’ll need for the entire series will be mailed out the week before the workshop. Additionally, an activity sheet that recaps the workshop will be sent out after each workshop and will include additional ideas for learning.

Visual Storytelling: The June series will be offered on 3 consecutive Mondays. Participants will explore works of art by Jacob Lawrence, Bethany Collins, and Barbara Earl Thomas and learn how to tell their own story visually over the course of three weeks, culminating in the creation of their own story book. These workshops are designed to provide an experience tailored to the needs of Young Artists (ages 6–8 yrs).

Seattle Art Museum acknowledges that we are on the traditional homelands of the Duwamish and the customary territories of the Suquamish and Muckleshoot Peoples. As a cultural and educational institution, we honor our ongoing connection to these communities past, present, and future. We also acknowledge the urban Native peoples from many Nations who call Seattle their home.
