Spend your Washington State In-Service Day with SAM!

Artists from across many regions in SAM's global collection express ideas and reflections about their community through their work. Art can be a way to carry on traditional practices, or experiment with different approaches and new senses of belonging. Educators will explore symbols and references to everyday life in the galleries, then take part in connected art activities that can inspire students to share about their communities through art.

Registration for this event is free for Washington State public school teachers for Washington State In-Service Day. If you are a Washington State public school teacher, please email EducatorPrograms@seattleartmuseum.org to RSVP.

For all others, the registration fee for this event is $25, or $20 for SAM Members. If cost is a barrier, please contact us at EducatorPrograms@seattleartmuseum.org. This workshop includes resources and Washington State Clock Hours. Classroom educators, paraeducators, subject area coaches, and administrators are welcome to attend.

Support for K-12 programs during the 2023-2024 school year is provided by the BNSF Railway Foundation and Foster Foundation. Partial, sustained support for SAM’s K-12 programs is provided by an endowment established in 1999 by a National Endowment for the Humanities challenge grant and the generous contributions of matching donors, including the Ann P. Wyckoff Education Endowment. The William Randolph Hearst Endowed Fund for Education Programs at the Seattle Art Museum has supported SAM K–12 programs since 1994.
