Discount Access Programs

SAM wants everyone to experience the art in our galleries, and we offer a number of options that provide free or reduced-cost entry to the museum. The museum is also committed to providing opportunities for those who experience barriers to entry access to the museum through strategic partnerships as part of our Community Pass Program.

Below are the free and discounted programs available for the Seattle Art Museum and the Seattle Asian Art Museum. Restrictions are noted if applicable. Visiting the Olympic Sculpture Park is free.

Seattle Art Museum

First Thursdays: FREE
Admission is FREE to everyone at the Seattle Art Museum downtown on the first Thursday of every month. Tickets available both onsite and online.

First Fridays: $5 Admission for Seniors
Admission to the Seattle Art Museum downtown is $5 for Seniors (65+) the first Friday of each month. Tickets available both onsite and online.

Please note: We have streamlined the ticket purchasing experience at our downtown location to a single “Admission” option, which includes access to everything currently on view in the museum. SAM strives to be an inclusive and welcoming place for everyone. Through strategic community partner organizations, we provide free opportunities to experience the museum to those in our community who have historically faced barriers or been excluded from engaging with the museum.

Partner Organizations

We prioritize organizations that are service-based nonprofit or governmental organizations that support members of marginalized communities including low-income families; communities of color; immigrant and refugee communities; and families or individuals experiencing homelessness.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must be one of the following:

    • Non-profit with 501c3 status

    • Government entity

    • Indigenous community organization

    • Religious organization with a secular community function

  • Must be a direct service organization that provides free programming and services to at-risk or under-resourced populations

  • Organizations will need to provide general demographics of the community they serve in order to qualify

  • Organizations will need to designate a single point of contact as a liaison with SAM for this program

Benefits

Partner organizations receive a number of free individual tickets to the museum for use by anyone in the organization’s client base and by accompanying staff members.

Admission tickets are distributed at the start of the calendar year and are valid through the end of that same year.

Please note the following usage restrictions:

  • Tickets should not be used by the partner organizations as rewards, incentives or donation items for fundraising purposes. They do not have a cash value and should never be sold or distributed to employees or non-qualifying individuals for personal use.

  • Tickets should not be used for groups of 10 or larger without first checking with SAM’s Group Ticketing department by emailing: groups@seattleartmuseum.org.

If you are interested in requesting Membership or Ticket donations, SAM provides a limited number of these each year with priority placed on nonprofit organizations with an emphasis on the arts and local schools. To make a request for admissions tickets or SAM memberships for an upcoming auction or event, please send your request, including a description of the auction/event, at least ninety (90) days before your deadline to: donationrequests@seattleartmuseum.org or by mail to:
