DESCRIPTION:Most famously exemplified by Jack Kerouac’s 1957 novel On the Road\, the Am
 erican road trip has long captured the imagination of artists and writers. 
 In this talk\, we will explore how artists in SAM’s collection have played 
 with the cultural and physical landscapes of the American highway: the vern
 acular of roadside attractions\, the intersection of manmade and natural en
 vironments\, and the shared experience of viewing the changing scenery from
