Enjoy a concert and performance from celebrated Sitar player Pt. Kushal Das accompanied by Shri. Sandip Ghosh on Tabla.
Pt. Kushal Das, renowned Sitar and Surbahar artist, was born in a musical family in Kolkata. His father Sailen Das was a disciple of Lakshman Bhattacharya and Pt. Ravi Shankar. His uncle Santanu Das was a disciple of Pt. Ali Akbar Khan. He started his training under the guidance of his father and uncle. Later he received training from Sanjoy Bandopadhyay and from Ajoy Sinha Roy (a disciple of Pt. Allauddin Khan) and took vocal lessons from Pt. Manas Chakraborty and Pt. Ramkrishna Basu.
Pt. Das will be accompanied on the tabla by Sandip Ghosh, who has been a disciple of Pt. Anindo Chatterjee for the last 18 years. Sandip has accompanied distinguished artists like Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty, Ud. Shahid Parvez, Ud. Shujaat Khan, Pt. Hari Prasad Chaurasia and Vid. Kaushiki Chakrabarty. He is also a solo artist, collaborating with bands worldwide.
