DESCRIPTION:Join poet and writer\, Luther Hughes (they/them)\, for a series of workshop
 s on ekphrastic poetry—poems written about works of art—inspired by SAM’s e
 xhibition\, Following Space: Thaddeus Mosely and Alexander Calder. Each wee
 k\, we will discuss contemporary poems to help us understand how to write o
 ur own ekphrastic poetry. Come and dive deep into the wondrous work of Mose
 ly and Calder.\nLuther Hughes (they/them) is the author of A Shiver in the 
 Leaves (BOA Editions\, 2022)\, listed as best books of 2022 in The New York
 er\, and the chapbook\, Touched (Sibling Rivalry Press\, 2018)\, recommende
 d by the American Library Association. They are the founder of Shade Litera
 ry Arts\, an organization for queer writers of color\, and cohosts The Poet
  Salon Podcast with Gabrielle Bates and Dujie Tahat. Their honors include t
 he Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Rosenberg Fellowship\, the 92Y Discovery Poetry P
 rize\, Cascade PBS’s Black Arts Legacies honoree\, and named Most Influenti
 al by Seattle Magazine. Their writing has been published in The Paris Revie
 w\, Orion\, American Poetry Review\, and others. They’ve been featured in T
 he Seattle Times\, Forbes\, Essence\, KUOW Public Radio\, and more. Luther 
 lives in Seattle\, where they were born and raised. \nThis class is part of
