Join us in a series of musical performances exploring the genre that inspired the genius exhibited in Following Space: Thaddeus Mosley and Alexander Calder. Each week, SAM will have a different jazz ensemble perform in our South Hall on Saturday from noonâ12:45 pm and 1:15â2 pm. Join us as we listen to the experimental and dynamic music, which created a lasting influence on Modern and Contemporary artists.

D'Vonne Lewis and BEYOND
D'Vonne Lewis, four-time Earshot Jazz "NW Instrumentalist of the Year" winner, hails from a musical legacy as the grandson of Northwest organ legend Dave Lewis. Graduating with honors from Seattleâs Roosevelt High School, he earned acclaim as the Essentially Ellington Drum soloist from 2000 to 2002. Based in Seattle, Lewis transcends genres, captivating audiences with his versatile drumming in jazz, big band, funk, hip-hop, rock, Brazilian, and African styles.
Lewis has shared the stage with global icons like Macklemore, Digable Planets, Wynton Marsalis, Maria Schneider, Christian McBride and more. A dynamic composer, he leads DâVonne Lewis' LIMITED EDITION and his NW DâLux ensemble. Honored with the 2006 Earshot Golden Ear Award and the 2014 Stranger 'Genius' award, Lewis, a Seattle Jazz Fellowship Board member, is poised to elevate international stages with his unmatched talent and diverse musical prowess.
He leads this ensemble featuring Skerik on saxophone; Geoff Harper on bass and Tim Kennedy on keyboards.
