Premier Member Reception: Hokusai

Join us for the Premier Member Reception of Hokusai: Inspiration and Influence, from the Collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston at the Seattle Art Museum.

This major exhibition organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) takes a new approach to the work of versatile artist, Katsushika Hokusai, pairing more than 100 of his woodblock prints, paintings, and illustrated books from the MFA’s renowned collection with over 200 works by his teachers, students, rivals, and admirers. Explore Hokusai’s impact through the centuries and around the globe, including on artists Yoshitomo Nara, Chiho Aoshima, and Helen Frankenthaler.

All galleries and SAM Shop on the fourth floor will be open and as a Premier member, you'll have access to exclusive programming throughout the reception.

Start your evening by socializing with other Premier members over a glass of wine in South Hall.

7 pm

Enjoy complimentary drinks and light bites in the Brotman Forum.

7:15 pm

Peruse Hokusai: Inspiration and Influence while listening to a live koto and flute duet by Marcia Takamura and Esther Sugai.

Advance tickets are required and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Should this reception sell out, please email premier@seattleartmuseum.org to be placed on the waitlist.

Premier members are also invited to see the exhibition during Member Preview & Happy Hour on Wednesday, October 18 from noon to 8 pm.
