​​Discount Access Programs

SAM wants everyone to experience the art in our galleries, and we offer a number of options that provide free or reduced-cost entry to the museum. The museum is also committed to providing opportunities for those who experience barriers to entry access to the museum through strategic partnerships as part of our Community Pass Program.

Below are the free and discounted programs available for the Seattle Art Museum and the Seattle Asian Art Museum. Restrictions are noted if applicable. Visiting the Olympic Sculpture Park is free.

​​Seattle Art Museum

First Thursdays: FREE
Admission is FREE to everyone at the Seattle Art Museum on the first Thursday of every month. Tickets available both onsite and online.

First Fridays: $5 Admission for Seniors
Admission to the Seattle Art Museum downtown is $5 for Seniors (65+) the first Friday of each month. Tickets available both onsite and online.

Seattle C3® – sightseeing made easy

​​Seattle Asian Art Museum

First Thursdays: FREE
Admission is FREE to everyone on the first Thursday of each month at Seattle Asian Art Museum. Tickets available both onsite and online.

Please note: last Fridays are no longer free at the Seattle Asian Art Museum.

Suggested Admission
As part of our operating agreement with the City of Seattle for the Seattle Asian Art Museum art deco building located in Volunteer Park, admission pricing at the Seattle Asian Art Museum is suggested. Visitors here may pay what they wish for entry. Available onsite only.

Both Locations

Museums for All: FREE
SAM participates in the Museums for All program, a national initiative that encourages low-income individuals and families to visit museums regularly. This program provides free admission for up to five people to the museum. Verification of SNAP EBT or WIC card required. Free tickets are available onsite only.

Seattle Public Library Museum Pass: FREE

Passes may be reserved online, pending availability, at the Seattle Public Library’s website. Discount includes admission for up to two people. Must have physical or digital pass present and redeem onsite

King County Library Museum Pass: FREE
Passes may be reserved online, pending availability, at the King County Library’s website. Each pass admits up to two people and must be presented with a matching ID. Passes are redeemable onsite only.

Teen Tix Pass Holders: $5 admission
Administered through Teen Tix, this pass grants teens access to $5 tickets at SAM as one of their partner organizations. Teen Tix verification required to redeem. Available onsite only. 

Gold Card / Flash Card Holders: $5 admission
Administered through the City of Seattle, these cards provide discounts to adults with disabilities and seniors at participating organizations. Card verification required. Available onsite only.

PCC Community Markets Members: 10% off
PCC Members enjoy a 10% discount on admission upon presenting their PCC Market Member card. Available onsite only.

Caregivers: FREE
Free admission is granted to caregivers attending museum with care recipient. In-person verification required. Available onsite only.

Bank of America Card Holders: FREE
Grants Bank of America cardholders one admission ticket on the first full weekend of each month. Available onsite only.

AAM and ICOM Card Holders: FREE
Verification of current AAM or ICOM card required. One ticket per cardholder. Available onsite only.

Employees of other museums: FREE
Proof of employment required; work badges with photo ID accepted. Available onsite only.

Group Visits

Community Pass Program

SAM strives to be an inclusive and welcoming place for everyone. Through strategic community partner organizations, we provide free opportunities to experience the museum to those in our community who have historically faced barriers or been excluded from engaging with the museum.

Partner Organizations

We prioritize organizations that are service-based nonprofit or governmental organizations that support members of marginalized communities including low-income families; communities of color; immigrant and refugee communities; and families or individuals experiencing homelessness.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must be one of the following:

    • Non-profit with 501c3 status

    • Government entity

    • Indigenous community organization

    • Religious organization with a secular community function

  • Must be a direct service organization that provides free programming and services to at-risk or under-resourced populations

  • Organizations will need to provide general demographics of the community they serve in order to qualify

  • Organizations will need to designate a single point of contact as a liaison with SAM for this program

Benefits

Partner organizations receive a number of free individual tickets to the museum for use by anyone in the organization’s client base and by accompanying staff members.

Admission tickets are distributed at the start of the calendar year and are valid through the end of that same year.

Please note the following usage restrictions:

  • Tickets should not be used by the partner organizations as rewards, incentives or donation items for fundraising purposes. They do not have a cash value and should never be sold or distributed to employees or non-qualifying individuals for personal use.

  • Tickets should not be used for groups of 10 or larger without first checking with SAM’s Group Ticketing department by emailing: groups@seattleartmuseum.org.

If you are interested in requesting Membership or Ticket donations, SAM provides a limited number of these each year with priority placed on nonprofit organizations with an emphasis on the arts and local schools. To make a request for admissions tickets or SAM memberships for an upcoming auction or event, please send your request, including a description of the auction/event, at least ninety (90) days before your deadline to: donationrequests@seattleartmuseum.org or by mail to:

Application Process

We accept applications from qualifying organizations to join this program on an annual basis. Organizations only need to apply to participate in this program once, and if admitted, will be considered ongoing partners but will need to review and renew benefits annually.
