How are artists inspired by their cultural heritage? How can they transform shared experiences in their communities into works of art?
Focusing on the Jaune Quick-to-See Smith: Memory Map at SAM, this virtual workshop will examine the artist’s influences and the messages in her work.
Participants will brainstorm how to integrate techniques such as using found text and mixed media in their classrooms, as well as prompts for fostering student discussions around identity and their communities.
Registration for this program is free and includes resources and Washington State Clock Hours. Classroom educators, paraeducators, subject area coaches, and administrators are welcome to attend.
