Have you heard? Korean Cinema’s Got Style!

Expand your Korean art horizons with four contemporary films that epitomize the charm, style, and innovation of Meot: Korean Art from the Frank Bayley Collection. This two-week fall series of evening and matinee screenings will genre-hop through horror, comedy, mystery, and even the Western, proving Korean cinema is anything but predictable. Showcasing a few modern masters’ early works, this series engages with Meot’s contemplations on Korean artistry through time. Join us for community activities accompanying each screening.

Come in your finest costumes for this Halloween Monster Movie Night screening of The Host.

An early film by director Bong Joon-ho (Parasite), The Host literalizes the monstrous consequences of military imperialism while injecting humor and tragedy into a classic monster romp.

On the banks of Seoul’s Han River, the lazy but kind Gang-doo (Song Kang-ho) runs a snack shack with his father and his precocious daughter A-sung . . . until a mutant monster rises from the water and steals her into the bowels of the city. Their dysfunctional family, including a bow-wielding Bae Doona (Cloud Atlas) and unemployed Park Hae-il (Decision to Leave) must band together to save her from the terrors of creature and government alike. Content Advisory: Monster violence and mild gore.
