Gathering at SAM Gallery brings together a variety of artists, mediums, and styles for a show that explores the idea of what it means to "gather." To cultivate crops and harvest, to come together for an occasion, to put together a collection of artworks, to arrange or rearrange—gathering is a key element of creating connection by bringing things or ideas together.
Pondering the places and ideas of Gathering, artists Iskra Johnson, Katie Metz, Stephen Rock, and others are presented together not for just what we see but what ideas unite their works.
