Join us for a conversation with internationally renowned artist, curator, and educator Qiu Zhijie, whose work spans ink painting, calligraphy, photography, video, installation, and performance. This talk coincides with the debut of his new installation inside the Olympic Sculpture Park’s PACCAR Pavilion.

Known for his conceptual ā€œmapsā€ that weave together mythology, politics, memory, and society, Qiu’s practice bridges traditional literati aesthetics with bold contemporary experimentation. From projects like Assignment No. 1: Copying the ā€œOrchid Pavilion Prefaceā€ One Thousand Times to his long-term Suicidology of the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, Qiu challenges how symbols, repetition, and erasure shape culture and identity. As Dean of the School of Experimental Art at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and curator of major exhibitions including the Chinese Pavilion at the 2017 Venice Biennale, Qiu continues to redefine the role of art in reflecting and reshaping the world around us.
