The Four Accomplishments: An international collaboration to conserve four 17th century sliding door paintings from the Seattle Art Museum
Tanya Uyeda | Director of East Asian Paintings Conservation
An opulent set of 17th-century Japanese fusuma paintings is being remounted in the Tateuchi Conservation Studio for a loan to a Japanese exhibition next summer. Acquired by Dr. Richard Fuller in 1951, the paintings depict Chinese gentlemen enjoying music, games, calligraphy, and painting in a lush garden. Tanya Uyeda will share details on the ongoing treatment, discoveries about provenance, artistic techniques, and insights into the original architectural configuration of these remarkable works.
This program is exclusively for SAM members and begins with a wine reception in South Hall at 6 pm. The talk starts at 6:30 pm in Plestcheeff Auditorium and will be followed by a Q&A.
